Hotel on the Mimosa Route: enjoy the winter sun

130 km of spectacular, fragrant landscapes... The Mimosa Route is the most famous way to enjoy the winter sunshine on the Côte d'Azur. Between lush green forests, picturesque villages and panoramic views of the Mediterranean, this tourist trail offers you a unique sensory getaway, where each stage is perfect for enjoying the heady yellow blossom.

History and charm of the Mimosa Route

Synonymous with the Côte d’Azur in winter, the Mimosa Route owes nothing to chance. It arose from a shared desire to showcase a unique natural and cultural heritage, at a time when the region quiets down after the summer hustle and bustle.

From the 19th century onwards, the mimosa, imported from Australia, wowed botanists and gardeners alike with its dazzling blooms and bewitching fragrance. It was so popular that it gradually shaped the identity of the Mediterranean hills. But it was in the 1960s and 1970s that the idea of a route dedicated to this golden flower really took shape.

Local councillors, tourism operators and botany enthusiasts joined forces to create a trail that, in addition to its beauty, tells the story of a region and its savoir-faire. You’ll be amazed by this colourful itinerary filled with sea blue and sunshine yellow: the colours of our hotel on the Mimosa Route.

Must-see stops on the Mimosa Route

The Mimosa Route passes through 8 communes: Bormes-les-Mimosas, Le Rayol-Canadel, Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Raphaël, Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Tanneron, Pégomas and Grasse. A spotlight on the 3 most beautiful villages, located at the start, middle and end of the route.

The Tanneron: the Golden Triangle when it comes to mimosa

With its 22 hamlets nestling in the heart of the massif at an altitude of 516 metres, Le Tanneron is a vast expanse dotted with mimosa trees, both wild and cultivated, where magnificent, velvety, fragrant yellow balls burst forth in a natural hilly setting. You can even go on guided walks with naturalists.

Rayol-Canadel: a botanical stopover

Rayol Canadel, home to Le Bailli de Suffren, is a charming village with a gentle pace of life, set in unspoilt natural surroundings. The wooded hills of the Corniche des Maures slope down to the azure-blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, with the magnificent Isles d’Or just opposite. Close to our hotel in Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer you’ll also find the Jardins de la Méditerranée, a popular destination if you enjoy green spaces.

Bormes-les-Mimosas: the gateway to a floral paradise

Bormes-les-Mimosas, whose origins date back to the 12th century, is undoubtedly the mimosa capital of the Var. There are no fewer than 90 species, which can be discovered on a selection of walks across the hilltops with a view of the sea below and the port of La Favière. Now it’s up to you to put together a tour to suit your own personal preferences, starting from our hotel on the Mimosa Route: a tourist getaway with plenty of sun.
